Asexual propagation of plants is a great example of how cloning works.
In asexual propagation, involves mitosis (non-reproductive division of cells) and there is no genetic recombination. Offspring are genetically identical to the maternal parent. Basically, part of a single parent plant is enabled to regenerate itself into a new plant.
Asexual propagation is probably the easiest and fastest way of reproducing some plants.
Major methods of asexual propagation are through layering, grafting, cutting and budding.
