Michael Enright, Claire Messud, and Ali Smith are on the jury that will award one of the titles from the 2010 Scotiabank Giller Prize longlist $50,000. The Giller Prize announced the list on September 20, 2010. The prize is awarded to a Canadian author for a novel or short story collection. Which of the contenders are available as audiobooks and ebooks?
Scotiabank Giller Prize Longlist Audiobook
There is only one Giller Prize contender available as an audiobook: The Imperfectionists by Tom Rachman. Rachman's story about the difficulties of publishing a print newspaper in a digital age is performed by Christopher Welch. Like the Colbert-Dinello-Sedaris creation Wigfield, readers meet the characters of The Imperfectionists in a series of short vignettes that are presented as news stories.
The Imperfectionists is also an ebook that is available at Kobobooks and at Amazon. Because Kindles are audible-ready devices, it is possible to listen to the audiobook and read along at the same time.
The audiobook edition of The Imperfectionists is 9 hours and 41 minutes, and it was published by Recorded Books on August 23, 2010. The ASIN is B0040MK6LM. The ebook was publshed by Dial Press for the Kindle in April, 2010. The ASIN is B0036S49GE.
Scotiabank Giller Prize Longlist eBooks
In addition to The Imperfectionists, The Debba by Avner Mandelman is available for the Kindle from Amazon and in EPUB. According to the publisher Other Press,The Debba is a thriller about "the tangled riddle of Israel itself." The and the ebook was released in July 2010. The Kindle book is sold by Amazon Digital Services. The ASIN is B0036S4AUO.
