In preparation for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, Lifetime airs a movie charting the romance of the future king and his bride.

On Monday April 18, 2011, Lifetime is due to air a movie about the romance of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Check listings for local air times.

Entitled William & Kate, it is said to be a fictionalization of the romance.

Background behind William & Kate

After almost a decade together, Prince William, son of Charles, Prince of Wales and the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and the lovely Catherine Middleton are due to wed in Westminster Abbey on Friday April 29, 2011. In anticipation of the regal event, many American television channels are broadcasting specials connected to the wedding.

The romance of the prince and wealthy yet middle-class girl has been labeled a modern fairytale. Of course, the unhappy marriage of Prince William’s parents, prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer was labeled the same in 1981, and similar television movies were made about that romance. Those movies rooted themselves in the media stories about the romance, which had been heavily covered in the press, but Prince William and Kate Middleton were more successful in keeping their ‘public’ courtship comparatively private, so what can this movie script outside of speculation?

What will be revealed in William & Kate?

Some facts are known out the romance. The couple met while studying at St. Andrew’s University. There was the famous breakup in 2007. Yet, outsiders never even heard the sound of Catherine Middleton’s voice before the engagement interview, so be braced that this movie will not be factual so much as fun fiction.

The press has long lamented that those close to the couple are as close-mouthed as the courting pair, but of course, outsiders can imagine scenes such as a prince being introduced to the self-made Middletons, so the dialogue of the movie will likely be founded on this sort of fantasy and speculation.

Who is to play Prince William and Kate Middleton?

The seemingly likeable young actors, Nico Evers-Swindell and Camilla Luddington have been cast to play the attractive title characters.

No immediately famed name joins the cast, but the younger sister of Kristin Scott Thomas, Serena Scott Thomas is to play Kate Middleton’s mother, Carole Middleton.

Probably to the displeasure of the British, the younger sister of Kate Middleton is played by an American, Mary Elise Hayden. In fact, most of the cast is not English, so keep an ear out for what you think of their English accents.
