Does he or doesn't he find Lady Gaga boring? The Mirror says he does but he denies saying it. So what did Simon Cowell say?

It's always hard to call who is telling the truth when celebrities say they didn't say something a media outlet said that they said, and in the case of Simon Cowell allegedly trashing (kind of) Lady Gaga and Beyonce, along with Katy Perry, it's no different. On Sept. 30, 2011, Radar Online said that Cowell told them he was misquoted by the U.K. publication, The Mirror.

To begin, The Mirror, or the Daily Mirror as it's officially called, a U.K. paper that's been around since 1903, ran a story on the 27th that quoted Cowell speaking to one of their reporters rather disparagingly about Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Perry. All 3 are American singing superstars of course so the creator and star of 'X-Factor' has to know he was making headlines.

Simon Cowell: Did he Or Didn't He?

The quotes are direct and certainly seem like words the acerbic Cowell could have said but readers are free to judge for themselves: "If you only ever heard Lady GaGa, she's the most boring singer in the world," the Mirror said that he said. "You've got to see her, you need TV. Same with Beyoncé or Katy Perry."

The Mirror says that Cowell, who once said that had Lady Gaga auditioned for his show she would not have made it to be a contestant, went on to suggest the 3 singers didn't have that "x-factor" that is required to move through the rounds of 'X-Factor'. It's not a major trashing but to call a Lady Gaga or Beyonce or Katy Perry boring as singers is, again, headline grabbing stuff.

Simon Cowell: Admires Lady Gaga

The former 'American Idol' judge now says that he did not say those things, at least not about Lady Gaga and Beyonce. And he's having help with damage control from what Radar Online called his 'rep', who jumped into the fray to help take it all back.

Radar Online says their talk with Cowell and his rep was an exclusive one, and this is what they report the Cowell rep told them about the Mirror comments "This was completely misreported. It's the complete opposite in fact. Simon is a massive fan of both and he always refers to them as amongst the artists he most admires."

Simon Says, Newspaper Says

And finally Cowell himself did some damage control. He didn't offer up what he did say about the 3 celeb singers but he denied saying they were boring and got around to saying nice things about them. "It's like they've all been bred to take over the world and dominate everything in entertainment. They are unbelievable, these girls."

The Mirror has yet to respond.
