Canadian Settlement

The vast forested and rocky wildernesses of Canada were home to First Nations peoples, their settlements ranging from coast to coast to coast for thousands of years.

In the early 1500s, explorers set foot on the craggy coastline of Newfoundland; the tales of Vikings Erik the Red and Leif the Lucky opened the door to North America. The French braved the wilds of the Maritimes and Quebec beginning in 1535, and the British soon set sights on Canada. Expansion followed, the voyageurs and settlers penetrating deep into the unspoiled regions of the country.

Alliances, competitions, skirmishes, gruesome bloody battles, and conquests of peoples and territories were all brought to vibrant life in the settlement of Canada.
