Chemistry
Everything that you can touch, taste or smell is made up of chemicals. Chemistry is the science that studies the building blocks of all matter. It also studies the changes that happen to these building blocks.
Biochemistry studies chemical reactions that are happening all the time in your body, and in other living things. Plastics, and other chemicals that come from oil, are a part of Organic Chemistry. Chemists search for new medicines to treat and prevent illnesses, they investigate food to find out what is good for you and what isn't, they also develop new cosmetics, detergents, and fireworks!
Chemistry on Suite101 aims to explain important chemical concepts in a clear and structured way. Above all, chemistry is fun, and we will also describe simple experiments that can be done in your kitchen or garden!
