Thinking computers - the concept sounds like science fiction, but today it's science fact. Computers can process information in varying ways, and can even learn to improve results by modifying a process. Programming becomes less necessary, as algorithms self-modify to streamline computer evolution. Expert systems, with databases populated by human experts, provide a vast repository of knowledge for a computer as it learns to perform many functions. Is the singularity near? Decide for yourself!
