Colombia

Very nearly a failed state in the 1980s, Colombia's ship has been steadied by former President Alvaro Uribe and the warring in the country has abated somewhat. Colombia now finds itself at a crossroads under President Santos and the eyes of the world remain on this country with everything from mountains to sierras and deserts in addition to left-wing guerrillas, right-wing paramilitaries, emerging criminal bands, narcotics and a major increase in foreign investment.

We hope to detail Colombia's progress in these pages.
