If Dewey had such influence on American education, one would think that what he learned from Alexander would have filtered through to the educational system. Is there any evidence that it did?

A good question. Sadly, the answer is "no".

On a personal note, I grew up in a family where Dewey's name came up often. He was blamed by my parents for all the faults of American public education at mid-century - particularly poor acedemic standards. There was great concern that the Russians (or, worse yet, the Chinese) would overetake us.

Imagine my surprise when, 20 years later, I discovered the Alexander Technique, and that Alexander and Dewey were on such good terms!
