» wolfwoman45 - Another moment in time
On July 14 of this year I lost my beautiful Blue Fronted Amazon parrot Corky. I had him for 15 years and I did everything right -- good food, clipped wings, good care, and he was a truly happy bird. He was 15 years old, and I feel extremely fortunate to have shared my life with that beautiful creature. He had an accident, must have flown down into the bay wundow and injured himself. My cat, my cockatiel, and I are all so depressed. The cockatiel won't even talk anymore. I want another bird so bad, but I am disabled now and cannot afford to buy another.-- posted by wolfwoman45

In response to message posted by wolfwoman45:Hello there,
Here's what I tell everyone who asks how long parrots live--Barring accidents or illnesses, they can live for many, many years. But it only takes a few minutes for something tragic to occur. So please, everybody, be extra-vigilant when your birds are out of the cage. They're like little kids and can't be trusted not to get into trouble.
My heart aches for you and your other pets. I know you all miss Corky terribly. Good luck finding another parrot. Maybe the animal shelter could send your contact information around to other shelters too, so they will all know to call you if a parrot comes in.
