Wondering about a bird I saw

Hi my freind and I saw a new bird at our local feed store and wondered how long they have been around, it looks like a parakeet crossed with a parrot, the lady called it if spelled right, paralette (?) I would love to know more about them, and learn how they act and their life span ect.. She told is that it was the smallest parrot bred. Happy found this site! If there are amy sites on this bird and or information please let me know! I have owned birds off and on in my life and would to have another one! This bird is so pretty green feathers on top with blue underneath! Thanks alot a fellow bird lover..dawn
