» laurajaynejarvis - Brilliant book.
Just after getting my new pet rat, an albino who i named Angel, I bought this book and for the most part I think it is great. However when it comes to introducing yourself to your new baby I feel that this and many books make you take bit far too slow. I guess that it veries between individual rats but when I got Angel I hadn't read any books yet, I simply gently picked her up straight away spoke reassuringly and let her roam around on me, she was immediately at ease and scurried straight on up to my shoulder kissing my neck, nibbling my ears, my boyfreind got jealous but he loves her too!!Laura

» lioubov - Help!!!
I have just got a rat. I have been longing for a pet for so long. When i was a kid my school had a rat that was such a great friend to me and so when it came to choosing a pet I wanted a rat. I have searched a couple pet stores for the right one and I finally found Lucy a Fancy rat white with a brown spot on the face and back. When I first met Lucy she was friendly and I held her and let her run about to my shoulder. Now however she acts like she is wild she doesn't want me to pet her back and even bit me when I was cleaning the cage. I picked her up once to clean the cage and she screamed i was scared. I do not know what to do and how to make a connection. Please help. Lucy is not a baby she is half grown. Should I have got a baby rat?-- posted by lioubov
