» FlorenceC - Thanks for you comments

Thanks for your comments on part one of the Bible Codes. And thank you for yet another article idea - the Vision of Fatima! There are prophecies involved there, too.

» Dubh_Sidhe - Brian has great ideas...

and I am still trying to find his article site! Brian, are you there? I, too, believe strongly that there is a prophetic code in scripture. Take the Book of Daniel. It is one of the most thrilling books in the Bible, and it is, of course, a book on prophecy. Prophecy bulks large in the Bible--1/4 of the books are of prophetic nature. And, the Book of Daniel is rich in immagery, just as the Book of Revelation is. Daniel was a sealed book, until the end--that is why many believe time is drawing to a close, because Daniel is being understood, more and more.
(Dan.12:4).
But back to Nostradamus, whose real name was Michel de Nostre-Dame. His famous "Centuries" (1555), a book of prophecies, caused much controversy and was condemned by the papacy in 1781. I am not refuting your gleanings of him or of other seers (namely at Fatima) but, I would but caution that seers can be like glaziers. (Jim Jones; the Waco preacher; that "prophet" who led the Hale-Bop group to their demise--can't recall his name; and the most recent vanishing of a group who followed another prophet of doom.
I think the numerical codes that the Bible presents is an absolutely fascinating study, and more and more titles are found in book stores on this subject. Enjoyed all of your articles!

» FlorenceC - Thank you, Virginia

Thank you for your comments. I have your site on my preferred topics list and check it out whenever anything new appears. Every time someone posts a message here, it seems I get new ideas for articles. Some time I would like to write on the Book of Daniel, but I believe I should get away from Bible topics for an article or two, as my next article, due this Tuesday, is the second part of Bible Codes. However, an article on false prophets sounds interesting. And you've given me several names as a starting point.

» not_him_again - I am here.

I am here... and thanks for the kind words!

My articles (if accepted) should be here around the Holidays, assuming I get time off work to begin writing.

By the way, if I remember correctly, Daniel had some prophecies on Alexander the Great, I think? Maybe something is here worth looking into as well?

» Dubh_Sidhe - Yes, indeed, Brian...

Daniel speaks of Alexander the Great. Flavius Josephus also records an incident during the time of Alexander which supports the early authorship of Daniel. When Alexander's invasion reached the Near East, Jaddua, the high priest, went out to meet him and showed him a copy of the Book of Daniel in which Alexander was clearly mentioned. Alexander was so impressed by this that, instead of destroying Jerusalem, he entered the city peaceably and worshiped at the temple.
I have an interesting article coming up on January 15, in which I use the image of the "metal giant" spoken of in Daniel as a part of the story.
Actually, my main character envisions himself as Alexander, to whet your appetite!

» geraldine - what does the number 666 stand for?

I find this all very interesting, thanks but also very frightening. Could yoshou tell me what this stands for . I realise it is the antichrist but from the bible, we should be able to figure out a name?

» FlorenceC - Ssorry, Geraldine.

But it's not all that simple. The Bible gives us hints, ideas, only. Here, as in much of Jesus' words, the Bible speaks in parables.

» Dana_Decker - I Have the book

The Bible Code by Michael Drosnin.
I've had it for quite a while and it makes for very interesting reading. But, I'm not sure exactly how I feel about it. Honestly, I haven't picked it up in a long time....and being a Christian I need to satisfy myself on what the scriptures might have to say about it.

But either way. Supposing that the Bible code is true and very accurate. Imagine what that does to those who believe that the Bible is not accurate and that parts of it aren't applicable or simply penned by man and his imagination. It would kind of blow those theories out of the water.

» DovPaoloA - The Bible codes

Florence,

When a religous fanatic and nationalist extremist murdered Israel's Prime Minister Itzhak Rabin, the whole nation here in Israel was in shock for several months.

The first I heard of the Bible Codes was when most of our dailies took up the Codes, showing that with their help it would have been possible to predict (avoid) that murder.

And here is my problem with those Codes. The alleged possibility to find a prediction tool which might be used to change future channels and thus, finally, also change the past, which disturbs me very much. I find it impinges upon my free will and in final analysis it is liable to create guilty feelings - not upon the murdered but upon the innocent.

Therefore I opted for the easy way out - and refused to give credit to those Codes...
