» inga - Predictions
I don't think predictions based squarely on logic are inherently more accurate than those based on intuition or more mysterious methods. Predictions on the stock market or the weather are never as reliable as we might like, even if they are produced by scientific methods. Different people tend to have different accuracy rates also. I would imagine that at least predictions on the stock market are not free of fraud or deception.Sounds like conditions that are similar to predictions based on more intuitive and less scientific methods. They're never as reliable as we might like, different people tend to have different accuracy rates, and they're not free of deception.
The interesting thing about the y2k thing to me is that people using rational methods and those using intuitive methods could easily arrive at very similar conclusions. They could end up saying the same thing and still end up in an argument about the way they're saying it, just because they don't understand each other.
The only thing I know for sure is that there will be change, just as there already has been. It's just a matter of degree. I think the best thing any of us can do is make a conscious decision to adapt to whatever conditions we find, and to make a vow to ourselves to help others who are faced with more difficult circumstances or have a harder time adapting. I also feel that there will be opportunities for all of us help create a peaceful future.
It's a time to feel invigorated rather than fearful.

If I might, I would like to comment on JS Mills statements, in hopes of maybe helping us all understand each other a little better, or at best shine what dim light I have to offer on what could be a very intense time.-- posted by Donus

This comet is doing just what Nostradamus predicted, and should become very visible to the public on August 11, 1999, during the total eclipseIf it would be visible during an eclipse, why isn't it visible at night?
I find my faith in God growing daily as I study these things
What do you think God would say about your listening to Mayan priests and seventeenth century alchemists?
The world is an interesting enough place, and a frightening enough one, without creating spooks to frighten yourself.

** If it would be visible during an eclipse, why isn't it visible at night? **Today the comet is next to the sun in the sky. The sun is too bright for us to see it just as you can’t see the stars behind the sun. We will be able to see the comet when the moon comes around and blocks out the sun for a minute or two (the eclipse). At night, when you look up, you look away from the sun, we can’t see the comet because it over by the sun.
** What do you think God would say about your listening to Mayan priests and seventeenth century alchemists? **
My hope is that the Lord would be pleased to see me take all his creatures into account and still be able to arrive at his true, but I would not presume to know what God is thinking.
** The world is an interesting enough place, and a frightening enough one, without creating spooks to frighten yourself. **
What we do not understand, we fear. What we fear, we destroy. I’m always amazed how quickly closed minds are frighten, I shouldn’t be, but I always am.

Let me first say that I have not ever been one to believe in or even give a second thought to the possibility of persons such as Nostradamus having correctly fortold of events in the future; however, I was pulled to reading about this scenereo advocated by Stephan Paulus in Nostradamus 1999 by some friends who were loosely discussing the Great King of Terror quatrain (whether valid or invalid, it does make a great story). I marked August 11th on my Calandar so that I could point out how crazy my friends were (again!) when nothing materialized. Well, imagine my surprise when I first learned about Comet Lee this May.I will always be a sceptic. But I will not ignore what is either direct evidence that Nostradamus knew what he was talking about or an amazing (and I mean amazing) coincidence! I would suggest one would have to be a fool to totally ignore Comet Lee and the Nostradamus connection (even if it only turns out to be a source of coctail party material!).
On another note, if this plays out I for one have no confidence in our government warning us in advance. A very credible argument can be made that there is nothing that can be done to prepare (on a country-wide basis) and that the price of panic would be too high to justify telling people until the very end. If something like this were to happen a very real debate would occur concerning whether the people would be better off knowing well in advance or being kept in ignorant bliss. Just something to consider in any potential crisis.
Anyway, my take on this whole thing is to watch--and watch closely because in the unlikely event there is something to this then on a personal basis the price of not being ready is too high. If you are watching, you will be the first to respond. But don't obsess or go crazy.
By the way, I agree with the argument that the Bible end time prophesies are consistent with Nostradamus. One could argue that is because Nostradamus was familiar with the Bible. Somehow my faith tells me there is something to all of this and it is a matter of time--I just have difficulty believing it will be in my lifetime.
Anyway, I appreciate the postings and the relatively civilized diaolgue carried on at this site!

» StCatherine - I am pretty sure
that the government would not tell anything if it was known.I worked in government for years and it always amazed me that many people in power had one of these attitudes:
1. We don't want people to panic.
2. They're better off not knowing.
3. It wouldn't change anything anyway.
4. It's better if I am in control.
I never got along real well with people who hold those attitudes.

It's best to be a skeptic. There are so many frauds in this world, especially in the Prophecy field. But, while being skeptical, look back through other Nostradamus prophecies from the past. Many have been fulfilled. The same is true of many of the prophets, from Mother Shipton to Edgar Cayce, and even some of the seers of today.
St. Kay, I'm not sure if I agree with you or not in regards to the government telling us what's going on. True. I suppose the people have a right to know. But, if there's truly nothing we can do to help ourselves out of this situation, world wide panic can only make things worse.
The only benefit that I can see is that it would allow us time to make peace with our Maker, and shouldn't we all do that anyway, on a fairly regular basis?
