Serves as expert witness on microbial contamination, infection and disease and various medical-legal and industrial-legal issues related to microbiology.

BACKGROUND AND FOUNDATIONS:

Emeritus Associate Professor of Georgia State University inAtlanta. Georgia, taught microbiology and biology at GSU for over three decades.

  • Member of the American Society for Microbiology
  • Fellow and Diplomate of the American Academy of Microbiology with certifications in Medical Microbiology and Mycology.
  • Expertise and areas of interest include: Medical and Applied Microbiology, Introductory Biology, Mycology with additional strong interests in Medicine, Human Health and Disease and Homeopathic and Natural Medicine.
  • Qualified to teach, write and organize workshops and seminars in all these areas

Directed students have included candidates for nursing, dental, medical schools and other professional and postgraduate programs .

At GSU:

  • developed, moderated and taught workshops in Microbiology and Infection Control for Hospitals and Respiratory Therapy.
  • organized and directed Seminars in Biology and Microbiology at the Biology Graduate and Undergraduate level.
  • nominated and subsequently was awarded and received the 1995 Outstanding Teacher Award by a Panel Committee of the College of Arts and Sciences at GSU with over 350 faculty members in that College.

Over 35 students received Master's of Science degrees after completing coursework and doing research in his lab and various unit laboratories of the Centers for Disease Controlwhere Reinhardt's original postdoctoral studies were as a Fellow in Medical Microbiology. Peer-reviewed publications number approximately 40 and have appeared in refereed journals of note (Applied Environmental Micro., Infection and Immunity).

Research interests in the area of human and animal infections include:

  • Gram negative bacterial physiology and ecology in medical and industrial environments.
  • Gram negative bacterial identification and endotoxin and exotoxin studies.
  • Rapid detection of diphtheria toxin
  • Mold physiology and modes of infectivity and disease
  • Microbial Epidemiology in hospitals and industrial settings
