Both Somatoform and Factitious Disorders are included here. Somatoform Disorders are characterized by physical symptoms typically associated with a medical condition without the presence of a medical condition.
- Somatization Disorder: multiple, reoccurring complaints resulting in medical treatment
- Undifferentiated Somatoform Disorder: chronic, unexplained physical complaints
- Conversion Disorder: unexplained sensory or motor functioning that appear neurological
- Pain Disorder: unexplained pain whose onset and severity are psychological
- Hypochondriasis: preoccupation with having a serious illness
- Body Dysmorphic Disorder: exaggerated defect in physical appearance
Factitious Disorder is characterized by the intentional fabrication or falsification of physical or psychological symptoms.
