Langford
Mill Hill Regional Park
Atkins Avenue
On the summit of Mill Hill, there are remains of a watchtower that was used for a forest fire lookout years ago when the area was still undeveloped. Today, it provides a panoramic view of Victoria, Esquimalt and Washington State. The park features woodland hiking trails to the summit and picnic facilities.
Goldstream Provincial Park
Sooke Lake Road (off Hwy 1)
Located at the southern end of Malahat Drive, this large park is well known for the salmon in the Goldstream River from late October to December. The run attracts bald eagles that hover around the river. The nature centre is open during the summer and fall where visitors can see exhibits and film presentations. There is a large picnic area and campground. This is a popular park for hikers, especially the challenging trail up Mount Finlayson, which is one of the highest peaks in the area.
