Building Business Websites

Parting Words
Some last words here, folks (you knew I couldn't resist). One of the sites I included in the links list is for a firm called "Cyberlaw." A few legal tidbits you should know before launching your site:
- If you purchase or download stock photos or images for your site, double check to make sure that the photos or images are not copyrighted. You don't want to get in trouble for using something that you're not supposed to.
- Same holds true for the words you choose for content. If you have a brochure, and you plan on using some of the words from that on your site, make sure you actually "own" those words. Sometimes copy writers and designers own the rights to that stuff.
- As a courtesy, if you're going to link to another site from your site, ask before you do it. The person(s) you're linking to may not want to be associated with your site.
When in doubt about anything else, you can check with Cyberlaw, or find another site with inexpensive services. All I did was type "internet law" into Google, and Cyberlaw looked like the best bet.

I hope this class has provided you enough information to get your small business Web site up and running. In fact, I would be tickled pink if you would send me a link to your site when you get it finished! I'm available at kim@violetlizard.com. Of course, as long as the course is posted in suite101, I'll be checking the discussion area, so continue to ask as many questions as you'd like.
Good luck and happy coding!
