Nail Holes and Wall Anchors

Most people have things hanging on their walls. Sometimes these objects can be very large and heavy, such as large pictures or mirrors. These fixtures usually have metal or plastic anchors embedded into the wall where they are fastened. Smaller objects that are hung on the walls may just be hung with nails or screws.

All nails and screws should be removed from the wall before hanging a wall covering. If the holes are really small and you are afraid of not being able to find them after covering them up, you can insert a toothpick or wooden matchstick in the hole to remind you where they are. These need to be removed before you paper over them, keeping their locations in mind. When you are smoothing out your paper you should be able to notice the positions of the holes or wall anchors. Take the edge of your razor blade and cut a little X in the hole area where the opening will dry allowing the nail or screw to be replaced.
