Project Management 101

By Jason Kalra

Lesson 1: What is a Project?

The Imaginary Project Manager: Part 1

At the end of each lesson, we will take a light-hearted look at an odd little term or phrase that has found a home within the culture of Project Management. What makes these terms fun, is that, well, nobody really knows what they mean. Some people simply like to use them when referring to project-based things in order to look a slight bit smarter than they might actually be.

The term for our first lesson is Ramp-Up.

Apparently, this term implies linking one part of a project to another, as in we really need to work on that Human Resource Plan so we can ramp-up to Phase 4 of the project.

Bizarre!
