This lesson's strange phrase is stretch the envelope.

This bizarre little insult to the english language seems to emerge, almost exclusively, from the mouths of people who have an astoundingly small understanding of project management, and would much rather be on a golf course or shooting something that eats plants. Perhaps you've heard something like this?

Well, you see here, what we need to be doing is stretching that envelope to make sure we maximize our total potential and maintain our forward compatability with regards to our overall value structure and quality management systems.
