Section 4: Embellishments

Once you have your photos matted and your background paper assembled, you will want to add some embellishments. This can be as simple as a die-cut or sticker, or as ornate as fabric, ribbon, or fiber. Most scrapbooking stores carry a variety of stickers and die cuts. These are very easy to use as a beginner as they only require placement. Try to match your theme and colors for a pleasing effect. Should you decide to brave some of the more advanced embellishments, the store clerk is usually more than eager to demonstrate a technique or product.

Lastly, be sure you have calculated materials for titling. Will you cut out letters, use die cuts, or stickers or handwrite the title? Make sure you have the materials you need to create your title and journal boxes.

When you have assembled the materials for a layout, set it aside and begin gathering the necessary resources for each additional layout you brought photos for. Ask the clerk to keep all of your products stacked with the photos with which they are intended to be used. This will save you time at home as you sort out your purchases.
