Meteorology & Climatology

What is meteorology and climatology?

Meteorology is the study of the earth's atmosphere in terms of weather formation and forecasting. Climatology is the study of global patterns of climates and characteristics.

Weather and climate have an influence on our lives. It affects fashion, recreation, housing, agriculture, economy, employment, health, transportation and safety. We can't control the weather so all of us have learned to adapt to the climatic conditions around us.

The Meteorology and Climatology section at Suite 101 features articles on global climates, the basics of weather patterns, weather forecasting, plus newsworthy weather events and phenomena of today or from the past.
