Elizabeth Burton - Profile

I originated in northeastern Pennsylvania, lived much of my first half-century in northcentral Pennsylvania and now enjoy the warm weather in Austin, Texas. This is where I have finally been able to achieve my lifelong goal--becoming a novelist.

Dreams of Darkness: Book 1 of The Everdark Wars is available as a trade paperback and a PalmReader ebook from Zumaya Publications, and can be purchased through any bookstore both online and off. The sequel, Shadow of the Scorpion, is scheduled for release in 2003. The Ugly Princess, another Karlathia novel, will be published as an ebook by Double Dragon Publishing and a trade paperback from Zumaya early in 2003 as well.

I have had short stories published: "Somewhere in Her Smile" in the Romantic Bower online, "Simple Sarah and Slippery Sam" in Fables, "Troll Call" at The Wandering Troll and in January 2003 "Peanut Butter & Magic" will appear at SFCrowsnest. My husband, Phil, and I also publish a monthly book review ezine, The Blue Iris Journal (http://www.blueirisjournal.com).

For the last three years I have put my skills to work as a freelance book and copy editor, working with several electronic publishers as well as private clients. In July 2002, I became editor-in-chief and acquisitions editor for Zumaya Publications, a small press based in Burnaby, British Columbia. I'm a member of the Fandom Associaton of Central Texas and on the committee for ArmadilloCon, the group's annual literary SF/F/Horror convention. I am also a charter member of the Guild of Electronic Authors and Artists International.

I have four children--all grown up--from my first marriage and two gorgeous grandkids, Nick and Morgan Rose. Phil and I live in downtown Austin with our OWN "children," our cats Wesley and Sara and the three newcomers Brighteyes, Bird and Max.
