Renaissance Theatre
Renaissance Theatre
Playwrights and performers developed new forms of theatrical offerings, such as the improvisational Commedia dell'arte from Italy where the cultural movement began. Italian interpretations of classical drama influenced French theatre, and by the 16th century the movement expedited by the movable type invention, spread across Europe. The Elizabethan era is most closely associated with the English Renaissance, with the emergence of playwrights Christopher Marlowe, William Shakespeare and others.
