Treadmills are an excellent way to achieve cardiovascular fitness when working out at home. When you start researching the best home treadmills, you’ll notice they’re available in a variety of features and price points. Do you want to stream coaching, music, or movies while you’re working out? If so, there are home treadmills with those features.

Many runners opt for using treadmills to help keep them safe from uneven turf or terrain. That way, they don’t have to worry about experiencing an injury if they run through a pothole or trip on a pavement crack. Instead, they’ll experience less impact on their joints from working out on a cushioned running surface. Running on hard concrete sidewalks or asphalt pavement can cause a significant amount of muscle and joint pain.

We understand that it’s challenging to figure out which treadmill features you should consider. For example, you may wonder if the treadmill’s incline matters. It does if you’re looking to intensify your workout. Heart rate monitoring is another feature that’s beneficial because, if your heart rate decreases, that will signal you to ramp up your routine.

In this guide, we’re discussing fifteen of the best home treadmills. That way, you can see the variety available and understand the differences between feature-rich and standard treadmills. Our goal is to ensure you’re making the best buying decision when you have the right information in front of you.

Our List of the Best Home Treadmills

Nautilus T618

When you look at the Nautilus brand, you’ll find that Schwinn and Bowflex have similar designs. That’s because both of those companies fall under the Nautilus brand umbrella. Using this electric treadmill allows for up to four user profiles, and you’ll also find built-in workout programs.

The premium design and overall quality of this treadmill help it stand out from the rest. Of the many features, the best includes sizeable incline, speed, start and stop buttons. It supports up to 350 pounds without any issues. They’re also rubberized, which makes them easy to press. When you’re running at high speeds, you’ll appreciate the button size.

This treadmill also features rubberized side rails. That feature makes them easy to grip. The side rails also offer built-in buttons that allow you to adjust the incline and speed with ease. While you’re working out, there’s also an easy-to-read LCD panel.

The Nautilus T618 will also show you a Fitness Score if your workout lasts ten minutes or longer or has a total distance of more than one mile. The Fitness Score is a proprietary number that bases itself on your calorie burn from your last five workouts, as well as an estimate of your VO2 max.

There’s also a Pacer feature that allows you to compare past workouts with your current session. It’s an optimal way of seeing your progress and meeting fitness goals. You’ll find this feature especially beneficial if you’re on a specific training program or trying to lose weight.

All the data you collect on the Nautilus T618 easily syncs with the Nautilus Trainer 2 app. On the app, you can set fitness goals and export all of that data to health apps, including Google Fit, MyFitnessPal, Apple Health, and more.

Another beneficial feature is that this treadmill syncs with the free RunSocial app. That way, you can run in real-time with people from all over the world through nineteen locations and twenty-seven routes. The 20″ by 60″ gym-quality running path and twenty-six customized training programs ensure you’ll receive the highest quality results.

This treadmill’s 3.5 HP (horsepower) motor means it won’t give up on you during the most intense workouts. The Nautilus T618 will allow you to go up to 12 miles per hour. Your routine will remain smooth and steady thanks to incremental speed adjustments of .05 miles per hour each. There’s also a 15% incline that will go down to 0% if you want to run flat.

The running deck on this treadmill is 20″ by 60″, which means it provides exceptional results no matter if you want to walk, jog, or run. The extra-thick 3-ply belt means this treadmill is ideal for runners.  Because it features SoftDrop technology, that means you can fold it up easily for storage and take it back out without causing any strain.

One downside of the Nautilus T618 is that the cooling fans aren’t that powerful. If you can look beyond that, this treadmill is an excellent option for a gym-quality workout. Another drawback is that some reviewers note that the Bluetooth doesn’t always connect well.

NordicTrack Commercial 2950

NordicTrack Commercial 2950 is an excellent option for serious runners who want to get workouts in daily. This treadmill features a 22″ by 60″ professional running surface. With maximum speeds at 12 miles per hour, 15% inclines, and -3% declines, it’s no wonder this machine earned the Editor’s Choice Award from Runner’s World.

Those using the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 love the wide variety of coaching options, as well as the sizable 22-inch touchscreen display. Not only do runners feel more engaged during their workouts, but they prefer using this display compared to listening to music. Another benefit is that, even though this is a commercial-grade machine, it will fold away when not in use.

The NordicTrack Commercial 2950 features RunnersFlex cushioning, which allows for moderate impact and keeps the deck sturdy. This treadmill has the most cushion compared to other NordicTrack models. Runners experience constant jarring on their spine and joints during workouts. The cushioning on this treadmill reduces that impact by absorbing the shock.

This treadmill taps into iFit’s programming platform to deliver trail climbs and other workouts with speed and incline variations that feel natural. You’ll see coaching lessons via video from professional runners, including Tommy Rivers Puzey. When working out with him, he’ll lead you through Patagonia’s scenic trails. During the workout, the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 automatically adjusts speed and incline to help make the coaching session feel realistic.

Because you’re viewing a large display panel, it’s easy to forget you’re not working outdoors in the sunlight and fresh air. That feature is particularly beneficial if you’re working out on a cold day in your basement. These workouts are more comfortable thanks to the two powerful console-mounted fans. One of the fans points at your torso while the other points at your upper chest.

Those who are looking to get fit won’t experience boredom thanks to the variety of workout experiences this machine offers. You can choose between a studio session or a global workout to achieve your goals. There’s also the option for full-body sculpting and cross-training like yoga. There’s an endless variety available through iFit’s coaches.

One drawback of this treadmill is that it doesn’t have a USB port. That means there’s no option for positioning your tablet or smartphone above the console. Instead, you have to depend on the treadmill’s display for workouts and metrics.

Even though the display screen is a nice perk, reviewers wish you could use it for streaming services like Netflix. Aside from not being able to watch sports or stream movies, the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 is excellent for running enthusiasts and those who want the best quality workout.

NordicTrack T Series Treadmill

The NordicTrack T Series Treadmill is a machine with similar features as the Proform treadmill. The main reason for the similarities is because both of these brands fall under ICON Health & Fitness’s ownership. The NordicTrack T Series Treadmill is an incline machine featuring a seven-inch touchscreen that’s compatible with iFit.

Runners love the iFit feature, which provides on-demand streaming workouts available on a 7″ HD touchscreen. You’ll find more than 16,000 exercises, with over 1,000 of them featuring courses that are outdoors throughout the world. These guided sessions allow those who are working out to follow trainers as they run or walk.

When using iFit on this treadmill, there’s an option to have your workout automatically change the machine’s setting to match the trainer’s speed and incline settings. If you don’t like those settings, it’s easy to override them and achieve the most comfortable workout experience.

It’s easy to engross yourself while working out on the NordicTrack T Series Treadmill when using iFit technology. For example, your trainer might take you on a guided tour through Costa Rica. While doing so, they’ll coach you while simultaneously providing facts about the area you’re running or hiking.

The NordicTrack T Series Treadmill’s console features real-time workout training. Those features include elevations, intensity, and heart rate. Because these metrics aren’t what you traditionally see on a control panel, you can discover more about your routine.

During your workouts, you can choose the incline, which ranges from zero to 12%. This treadmill also features FlexSelect Cushioning, which means you’ll feel like you’re running on a real road while dampeners soften the impact on your joints. This treadmill’s space-saving design features EasyLift Assist, which makes storing your treadmill easy.

The one downside of the NordicTrack T Series Treadmill is its build quality. When you compare this treadmill against other machines, runners feel this one isn’t as premium. Runners also wish the touchscreen display was more prominent. However, for an added fee, you can increase the screen’s size.

Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill Series

If you’re on a budget, the Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill Series is an excellent option. Not only is this a cost-effective treadmill, but it will help you achieve your goals effectively. Thanks to its features and technology, you won’t have to sacrifice anything to receive a high-quality workout when choosing a budget-friendly machine.

This treadmill features six different preprogrammed personal trainer workouts. That variety allows you to mix up your routines and not experience boredom during workouts. There are two manual incline adjustments and, because there’s an LCD screen with blue backlighting, you won’t miss any metrics data. The display screen shows your calories burned, distance, elapsed time, and speed.

You’ll find a 16″ by 50″ workout track that allows you to walk comfortably or jog lightly. With a 2.25 horsepower motor and top operating speed of 10 miles per hour, there’s no lack of support for your low-impact workout goals. Use the treadmill’s heart rate monitor to keep track of your workout’s intensity. When you place your thumb on its sensor, you’ll see results.

You’ll experience more comfort and less impact on your joints thanks to this treadmill’s Comfort Cell Cushioning. One thing you must consider, however, is that this treadmill is for walking. It’s not optimal for running due to its track size, horsepower, and speed limitations.

The footprint of this treadmill is 64.5″ by 29″, making it compact and space-saving. You can fold this treadmill up, making storage much more manageable. Compared to other treadmills, this one is significantly lighter and weighs only 117 pounds.

Because the deck moves over rollers, some think the workout is too noisy. Another downside of this treadmill is that its weight limit is 275 pounds. So, if you weigh more than that, the Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill Series isn’t a good option.

Others feel the running surface is too small. So, if you’re a taller person, you might find that the size of the track is a bit cramped. You’ll also find it challenging to use this treadmill for light jogging. Instead, it’s best to keep this treadmill for walking only.

There’s a limited product warranty that’s available. However, you must register your treadmill within thirty days for it to be valid. There’s also a product manual available to help you set up your machine and troubleshoot any issues.

ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill

Selecting the ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill means you’ll also receive a free one-year subscription to iFit. That means you’ll experience world-class personal coaching while working out in the comfort of your own home. If you’re unhappy with NordicTrack machines, this treadmill includes more features.

Of those features includes a -3% decline mode. When you work out in that mode, it simulates walking or running down and up hills. Following an intense workout, you’ll experience comfort from the sizable fan. The seven-inch full-color pivoting touchpad makes tracking your workout or watching coaching sessions comfortable.

While this treadmill is slightly larger than competing models, both in how bulky it feels and its size, the heavy-duty design makes it an excellent addition to your home gym. The weight limit is 300 pounds for the ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill, making it an excellent choice for those who are using workout routines for weight loss or management.

You have complete control over how fast or slow this treadmill goes, even when you’re participating in a coaching workout. The digital buttons allow you to speed things up when you feel the urge to sprint or slow things down if you think the coach is working you too hard.

Because of the expansive, 60″ running space and 22″ wide belt, there’s plenty of room for stretching your legs. The width also allows for plenty of comfortable elbow room. The combination of these length and width features of this high-quality running track is an excellent way to keep your legs moving comfortably.

Once you finish an independent workout routine or one involving a professional trainer, this treadmill folds up conveniently. Its SpaceSaver Design features EasyLift Assist, which means the deck folds up with a built-in and powerful shock. When folded, its space is 73″ high by 39″ wide by 79″ deep.

There are a couple of downsides to selecting this treadmill. For example, if you want a larger touchscreen, you have to upgrade to the Pro5000. And, when comparing this machine to the NordicTrack 2950, there’s slightly less cushioning. However, the cushioning you do find on the ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill is much more comfortable than running on asphalt.

SOLE F85 Folding Treadmill with Bluetooth Technology

If you’re looking for a commercial-grade workout from the comfort of your home, the SSOLE F85 Folding Treadmill with Bluetooth Technology is an excellent option. Not only will you find a sturdy design, but also high-quality features.

Runners who choose this treadmill love that it doesn’t go overboard with technical features, and it’s effortless to operate. This treadmill’s EasyAssist feature also means you can store this treadmill away without any issues following each workout.

With a 22″ by 60″ running space, between five and twelve miles per hour running speeds, and a fifteen-degree incline option, there’s no shortage of workout comfort and intensity. You’ll also find a cooling fan and 10.1″ LCD.

Serious runners love tracking everything from calorie burn to their heart rate. This treadmill includes a wireless chest strap and pulse grip to help you keep track of how your body responds to your workouts. These features allow you to ramp up your routine without having to stop and monitor your efforts.

Thanks to its Bluetooth compatibility and tablet holder, you can customize your workout routines with ease. The buttons on the hand grips make this machine easy to operate when running or walking. You’ll also find compartments for earbuds or other small items you need close.

The ten pre-programmed workouts make it easy for you to switch up your routines and receive the highest quality workout. If you need to charge your phone or tablet while running or walking, there’s also a convenient USB port.

There are a few downsides to selecting this treadmill, though. First, there are no touchscreen options. Some are fine without tech options like this one, but it receives negative points for those who want to touch the screen while on-the-go. Other complaints include the fans not being strong enough and the side rails not being long enough.

Bowflex Treadmill

When you’re looking for the best home treadmills, Bowflex has a long history of creating high-quality workout machines. With integrated controls that are easy to navigate and feature soft gel buttons, this Bowflex Treadmill ensures everything you need is within reach. With one-touch, the responsive buttons adjust your incline and speed.

Much like iFit, Bowflex has adaptive coaching technology available, as well, by the name of JRNY. When you start using your Bowflex Treadmill, artificial intelligence conducts an assessment. The information JRNY collects allows you to receive personalized daily workouts. What’s best about this technology is it will automatically adjust according to how the runner is feeling, their past performance, and their improvements.

Because the JRNY technology is available, you can experience dozens of virtual workout courses with coaching to help encourage and drive you through routines. With adjustable running speeds, you’ll feel like you’re running with your coach.

Another benefit of using the Bowflex JRNY app is you can stream Bowflex Radio. When you’re streaming your favorite music, that helps make your workouts that much more enjoyable. You have a wide variety of playlists to choose from, including the 80s, country, hip-hop, pop, rock, and more.

This treadmill features a 15% incline to help offer variety to the intensity of your workout. The 20″ by 60″ running path means there’s plenty of room for you to complete your exercises comfortably.

There’s also a 7.5″ full-color LCD with a back-lit screen. Thanks to the built-in “push and go” intuitive workout programs, setting up a routine is straightforward. You’ll also find an integrated burn rate console that focuses on calories. That means, while you watch this tracker, it will push you to go further and faster.

Your Bowflex Treadmill is available with a limited warranty that includes labor for two years, electronics and mechanical parts for five years, and drive motor and frame for fifteen years. You’ll also find a user manual to help with setup and troubleshooting.

Thanks to this treadmill’s SoftDrop Technology, storing is a breeze. Bowflex has a reputation for developing space-saving products, and this treadmill is no exception. The gas shock ensures this treadmill will unfold with a gentle descent before every workout.

There are a couple of downsides to selecting this treadmill, including that the Bluetooth capability has limits. Another complaint is the limitations of how to use the built-in speakers. Other consumers report that, after several months of use, the incline sticks.

3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill

Are you looking for a treadmill that provides excellent results while running quietly? If so, then the 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill is worth considering. Not only does it deliver high-quality performance, but it does so while running quieter than many competing models.

Unfortunately, most home treadmills don’t run quietly. So, when you start using the 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill, you’ll notice the difference immediately. Tall and heavy runners can receive an incredible workout with this heavy-duty machine.

Thanks to its Ortho Flex Shock suspension, there’s less impact stress for runners. With its 22″ by 62″ runner’s platform, there’s more than enough room to get the most out of your workouts. So, if you’re a tall runner who is approximately 6’6″ tall, you’ll feel comfortable and not cramped when using this treadmill.

The 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill comes with a variety of pre-programmed workouts, as well as a fitness level test. You’ll also have access to heart rate control, elevation and speed settings, and workout customizations. These features mean there’s no lack of optimization for your workout routines.

With its 4.0 horsepower motor and 3″ rollers, this treadmill provides the highest quality performance. Therefore, if you’re looking for the best home treadmills, you’ll find it in this one regarding its strong motor and sturdy design. Its heavy-duty design includes a thick steel tube frame construction.

Every metallic part of this machine is powder coated with corrosion and scratch-resistant paint. Its heavy-duty design makes this treadmill weigh a lot. Because it weighs in at 386 pounds and most of the weight is in the running deck, that means it will not fold away for storage.

The weight isn’t a negative aspect of this treadmill. Instead, it enhances the 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill’s stability. Even though there are casters on the front of this machine, they aren’t for moving it around. Their purpose is to aid in incline and decline settings.

You’ll receive additional stability thanks to the rear base leveling feet that feature rubber caps. One thing you should make a note of is this treadmill’s size. Its footprint is 84″ long by 35.5″ wide. For safety purposes, you’ll need at least one foot of clearance on either side.

Those who weigh 400 pounds or less can use this treadmill thanks to its 4.0 horsepower motor and heavy-duty design. This treadmill’s deck features a heavy-duty, shock-absorbing two-ply running belt. It’s stretch-resistant and supports the highest speeds comfortably.

Runners love the console and amenities available through the 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill. The top screen shows calories, distance, incline, Mets, speed, and time. The larger monitor on the left shows runners a grid for adjusting speed and incline within specific workouts. Your heart rate is on the smaller display on the right.

This treadmill features eight pre-programmed workouts, including Aerobic, Body Index, Course, Custom Index, Fat Burn, Fit Test, Goal, and Manual. However, some of these workouts include multiple settings. For example, you’ll find two programs under the Fit Test and eight courses under the tab for Courses.

Now, speaking of amenities, you’ll find a sound system that’s compatible with most smart devices and MP3 players. There’s also a convenient USB charging port. A two-speed cooling fan on top helps make workout routines more comfortable. You’ll also find accessory and bottle holders on the lower part.

XTERRA Fitness TR300 Folding Treadmill

For those who are familiar with the TR150 model, the XTERRA Fitness TR300 Folding Treadmill has several more features in comparison. For example, you have a longer and wider running surface. There are also twelve more programs than the TR150 and an automatic incline system.

The XTERRA Fitness TR300 Folding Treadmill’s construction features a combination of ABS and steel parts. Its frame features steel construction with a rating for up to 300 pounds. Regarding its ABS parts, you’ll find that in the console dashboard, motor cover, and side rail covers.

Every piece of this treadmill’s steel construction has a chip and corrosion-resistant paint finish. Despite not being as large as a commercial model, there’s still plenty of space for an intense workout. Its footprint is 72.2″ long and 35″ wide. The recommendation for this unit is to leave a three-and-a-half-foot clearance behind the deck and at least two feet on either side for safety.

You’ll find a running surface featuring a 55″ length by 20″ width that’s expansive enough for those up to 6’3″ tall to experience a complete runner’s stride. The XTRASoft cushioning system on the runner’s deck provides shock-absorption and reduces impact by up to 25%. When connected to a power source, this treadmill inclines with controls in the left grip or on the console.

Ten incline levels are available, ranging from 0-10%, and they each have a 1% increment. Because the incline setting adds a few inches of height, the recommendation is to use this treadmill in a room with high ceilings. Make sure there’s at least 15″ above your height for safety.

The motor on the XTERRA Fitness TR300 Folding Treadmill is 2.25 horsepower. Its design is optimal for walking, as well as mid-range running. However, it will withstand long jogging or running routines. It’s speed ranges from 0.5-10 miles per hour. With increments of .01 miles per hour, there’s a smooth transition between levels.

A 5.5″ console is available on this treadmill with a blue LED backlight. The sizable digits on its display allow for enhanced readability. While this console doesn’t have Bluetooth connectivity or fitness app compatibility, you’ll still find twenty-four pre-programmed workouts.

There’s also an HRC program to help with motivation. You initialize this program through the machine’s hand grips. Once you initialize it, you can select your workout’s duration and heart rate target. If you fall below your target heart rate, the treadmill will increase its incline. Then, it will decline if you go over your heart rate target.

This treadmill keeps track of significant workout metrics. These include calories, distance, incline, pulse, speed, and time. Because this isn’t a telemetric unit, it must measure your pulse using sensors. It isn’t capable of communicating with chest straps and armbands.

Additional features for the XTERRA Fitness TR300 Folding Treadmill include two cup holders, a tablet holder, a cooling fan, and speakers. For ease of use, moldings for the bottle holders are inside the console. The tablet holder’s position is directly above the controls for this unit. You’ll find a speaker on either side of the console and a cooling fan beneath the dashboard.

A downside of this treadmill is, if you want to use the tablet holder, you’ll cover your console display. Another complaint is that the cooling fan isn’t powerful enough. Despite those issues, runners love that this treadmill is easy to assemble and maintain and that it’s rich with high-quality features.

Sunny Health & Fitness Manual Treadmill

In 2019, Sunny Health & Fitness brought several non-motorized treadmills to the marketplace, including the Sunny Health & Fitness Manual Treadmill. The first thing you’ll notice about this treadmill is its heavy-duty frame featuring steel tubing.

Not only is the deck of this treadmill sturdy, but the frame’s front section that includes upright masts are as well. That means it’s heavy-duty enough to support those who are up to 440 pounds. To help improve this treadmill’s sturdiness, you’ll find that the front masts have curves.

When you’re using this treadmill, you’ll benefit from the secure and sweat-proof handlebar assembly. However, there’s no console on the Sunny Health & Fitness Manual Treadmill. There is a tablet holder, though, that will support any portable device.

A couple of downsides of this treadmill is that it won’t communicate with any fitness app, and there are no Bluetooth capabilities. That means, if you want to receive a pulse reading or track your heart rate, you have to use a separate device.

Even though this treadmill’s footprint is only 55″ by 30″, that doesn’t mean it’s lightweight. It weighs approximately 167 pounds, so the recommendation is that two people carry it, and assembly occurs in its permanent location.

One downside of this treadmill is that the running surface isn’t that expansive. It measures 49″ by 19″, which some runners consider short and narrow. So, if you’re a tall runner, you might find this treadmill a bit constricting. However, tall people can still walk with long strides and do light jogging on this treadmill.

The incline system on the Sunny Health & Fitness Manual Treadmill features a manual incline. At the rear of the deck, you’ll find two adjustable feet. Adjusting the incline involves folding the treadmill, making the changes, and then folding it back down. There’s no way to make these adjustments while exercising because this treadmill doesn’t feature an automatic system.

Another downside of this treadmill is that its speed adjustments don’t occur automatically. Because you’re using a manual belt that isn’t motorized, runners have to adjust their speed according to how slow or fast they’re moving. However, you will find eight levels of difficulty on a dial. That way, you can adjust the level of your workout manually.

Reebok ZJET 430 Treadmill

Selecting the Reebok ZJET 430 Treadmill means you’ll find an automatic incline system and twenty-four pre-programmed workouts. However, there’s no option for using Bluetooth on this treadmill. When it’s assembled, this treadmill’s footprint is 68″ long by 30″ wide. It’s running surface is 51″ long by 17″ wide.

The Reebok ZJET 430 Treadmill will support up to 264 pounds with its 2.0 horsepower motor. Those working out with this machine can expect speeds between .06-10 miles per hour. The incline on this treadmill has twelve levels that adjust automatically. You’ll find several extras on this treadmill, including bottle holders, a sound system, and a tablet holder.

Construction for this treadmill includes a steel frame that combines oval and rectangular bars to help improve its aesthetics. For extra protection, the front bars feature ABS covers. Every tube on this treadmill has a corrosion-resistant paint coating. For the sake of safety, it’s a good idea to leave at least three feet of clearance around this machine.

You’ll save space when using this treadmill because it’s foldable. When you fold it, it reduces the treadmill’s length by approximately 42″. A hydraulic cylinder slowly lowers the deck to prevent damage from occurring. You’ll also find wheels on the base to help make this treadmill easier to move around.

When you use the running deck, you’ll find that its Triple Flex cushioning helps reduce joint impact. There are three types of cushions integrated into this machine. In the rear of the deck, there is a set of two small cushions that allow for optimal push-off. The front third of the decking features more sizable cushions to disperse impact. Two thicker cushions are on either side of the deck to help absorb more shock.

No matter if you’re running or walking, adjusting the incline on this machine is seamless. When inclining, either through the console or by your adjustments, the deck will slowly rise in the front. You’ll find twelve levels of incline with increments of 1% between each. The left hand grip allows you to adjust the incline, or you can use keys on your console.

While the motor on the Reebok ZJET 430 Treadmill isn’t as powerful compared to competing models, it will support light jogging and walking. Transitions between speeds are smooth and occur at one mile per hour increments. In the right handgrip, you’ll find the speed controls. Or, you can use the controls on the bottom of the console.

This treadmill features a console with a 5″ LCD screen that has an LED backlight. The sizable numbers are easy to read and indicate calories, distance, incline, speed, steps, and time. You can set the pace to either English or Metric units. If you hold the sensors integrated into the side grips, the console will read your pulse. However, it can’t communicate with a chest strap.

Operating the consoles means you’ll find preset workouts that are for ten-minute exercises. Each of the preprogrammed workouts adjusts the incline and speed of the belt. You can set a target heart rate on the console and measure your Body Mass Index. Input your age, gender, height, and weight, and you’ll see these results.

T101 Treadmill Series

If you want a machine that will not only keep up with the workouts that you’re planning but also the technology you need, the T101 Treadmill Series is an excellent option. With advanced Bluetooth connectivity to multiple devices and integrated speakers, you can stream seamlessly. You’ll also find a free app that helps you control every workout and push that data to your favorite fitness app.

One-touch keys allow you to quickly shift incline and speed while in the middle of a workout. You’ll also find handlebar controls and a quick rotating dial for additional manageability. If you want to use a workout featuring a coach, set up your tablet, and it will integrate the speakers. Or, if you would prefer to work out to music or streaming movies, that’s also an option.

The built-in device holder allows you to keep your phone or tablet in view during your workout routines. Even when you’re running hard, the device holder keeps your electronics stable and secure. Its placement is optimal for viewing without causing any additional strain. There’s also a rapid-charging USB port to prevent your devices from running out of juice during your exercises.

There’s plenty of room to run or walk on the 20″ by 60″ running deck. No matter what pace you want to work out in, there’s plenty of room on this treadmill. Every running deck features 3-Zone Variable Response Cushioning. That means, during each exercise, you’ll experience the highest level of support and flex. This treadmill’s speed will accommodate up to ten miles per hour.

Though the T101 Treadmill Series features a design for light to moderate in-home use, you can still receive an incredible workout. Because the deck features high-quality cushioning, this treadmill is ideal for those who have joint issues. During low-impact exercises, you’ll gain leg strength and develop cardiovascular fitness when using this treadmill. If you’re facing a limited amount of space in your home, this treadmill folds into a compact size.

The T101 Treadmill Series features solid construction. So, when you’re jogging or walking, you won’t feel any rocking or wobbling. This treadmill also features a straightforward assembly that takes less than two hours. That’s a significant difference compared to competing models that can take several hours or all day to assemble.

If you would like to use the LCD screen instead of your wireless device, you’ll find a wide variety of metrics and data. For example, this treadmill displays time, speed, incline, heart rate, distance, and calories. Depending on your workout, the speed, heart rate, and incline will vary — however, the calories, distance, and time feature cumulative results.

The motor on this treadmill will support individuals weighing up to 300 pounds. One downside of the T101 Treadmill Series is that it doesn’t accommodate heavy workouts. So, if you’re using this machine to achieve moderate weight loss or fitness goals, it’s an ideal choice. You’ll also notice that the speakers might not be as powerful as competing brands.

ProForm 300i Treadmill

If you’re an entry-level runner or don’t have a lot of experience with workout routines, the ProForm 300i is an excellent treadmill for getting you on your way. One of its best features is that this treadmill has a solid-frame construction that will accommodate up to 300 pounds.

Compared to competing models, the ProForm 300i isn’t as sizable. Its footprint is 65″ by 29,” and the recommendation is to keep a safe clearance around the machine. This treadmill’s size reduces by approximately half when you fold it up.

This treadmill features shock absorption on either side, thanks to the deck’s ProShox cushioning system. That means your joints will receive the highest level of comfort while running thanks to the optimal bending of the running surface. The deck’s running surface is 50″ by 16″, which will accommodate runners up to six-feet tall.

While this treadmill is entry-level, that doesn’t mean its motor is subpar. It has a heavy-duty 2.0 CHP (continuous-duty horsepower) motor that offers a speed range of .05-10 miles per hour. You can use the dual-functioning speed adjustment controls to adjust speeds in .01 mile per hour increments with a short press. The increases change to .05 miles per hour with a long press.

This treadmill also has an automatic incline system that ranges between 0-10%, which is modest compared to competing models. However, you can still receive excellent results when completing a 10 mile per hour run. The inclines adjust in 1% increments allowing for the best workout routine.

Some consider the console as mid-range. It consists of a 6″ display that shows calories burned, distance, incline, pulse, speed, and time. The numbers are sizable and easy to read. There are also sixteen workout programs, which include eight for performance and eight for weight loss.

The console also has goal settings that allow you to track calories, distance, and time. A racetrack application is also available to show the range you’re running or walking in laps. Each lap is a one-quarter mile, and the tracker will count how many laps you complete.

This treadmill’s console also has iFit integration capabilities. So, if you want to sync it with your phone or tablet, your workout data will stream directly to your iFit account. One downside to the ProForm Performance 300i Treadmill is that it doesn’t include the iFit membership.

While the fact that this treadmill will read your pulse through its sensors, sometimes that isn’t enough. Because the console is telemetric, that means it will work with a variety of transmitters. Accessories like these aren’t included with the treadmill, though.

While this treadmill isn’t commercial-grade, that doesn’t mean its console is lacking features. The first thing you’ll notice is the LCD with sizable digits and a backlight. You can track calories, distance, incline, pulse, speed, and time on this display.

One downside of this treadmill’s console is it isn’t telemetric. That means it won’t work with any transmitters. However, there are built-in sensors in the front bars that will track your pulse readings. The console is iFit compatible, and there are twenty preprogrammed workouts available.

There are also a variety of amenities for the NordicTrack T 6.5 S treadmill. That way, you won’t bore during your workouts. There are two elongated speakers for the sound system, a tablet holder, and accessory trays on the sides. The sound system is compatible with most tablets, MP3 players, and smartphones.

Schwinn 830 Treadmill

Schwinn is synonymous with the manufacturing of high-quality exercise equipment. So, when selecting the Schwinn 830 Treadmill, you can be sure that quality is a top priority. Because the company knows exercise routines should be enjoyable, they load their treadmills with a lot of features. For example, this treadmill has a media shelf, the ability to download exercise data, and 22 preprogrammed workouts.

When using this treadmill, there’s also the option of connecting it to either MyFitnessPal or Schwinn Connect. If you don’t want to connect to an app, there are plenty of fitness-tracking features available on the Schwinn 830 Treadmill. The console has a blue backlight, making it easier to view in low-light circumstances. The workouts of this treadmill feature include intense interval training, casual exercises, and heart rate profiles.

One of the downsides of Schwinn 830 Treadmill is how it assembles. Because it weighs 200 pounds, maneuvering it isn’t easy, and you’ll need help when constructing. Some consumers report that the assembly instructions are challenging to understand, which caused difficulty while they were assembling their machine. Keep in mind that, because treadmills are substantial pieces of workout equipment, it will take several hours to complete the assembly process.

The SoftDrop folding system makes this treadmill easy to fold away for storage or take back out when you’re ready to exercise. There are four cells in the Schwinn 830 Treadmill’s SoftTrack cushioning system. That way, you’re not experiencing a significant amount of impact on your joints. These cells allow for the highest level of comfort and smooth running.

Speeds range between 0-12 miles per hour thanks to the 2.75 CHP motor. You’ll also find that the deck inclines between 0-12%. There’s a maximum weight capacity of 300 pounds for this treadmill.

It also features workout data that includes active users, calories, distance, heart rate zone, heart rate calories, incline, program profile, and speed. Additional computerized features include a USB charging port, quick-start capability, four user profiles, and a quick goal. The workouts include those for heart health, weight loss, calorie burn, and aerobic.

If you like Nautilus machines, but they’re out of your price range, the Schwinn 830 Treadmill is an excellent alternative. The main reason is that both Nautilus and Schwinn are available through the same company. What many don’t realize is the Schwinn is the same as a Nautilus, but with a more affordable price point.

If I can run outside, why should I buy a treadmill?

When you’re working out on a treadmill, the machine allows you to jog, run, or walk while remaining in the same place. That means you can work out while in the comfort of your home as you stream coaching, movies, or music. No matter what the weather is outside, completing your workout routines can happen while inside.

There’s also less impact on your muscles and joints when running on a treadmill’s deck compared to the ground outside. There’s also less worry about safety issues occurring. For example, if you’re not running on pavement, there’s a chance you could slip or trip and fall on uneven turf. That could result in an injury that prevents you from working out.

What is the difference between home-use and commercial-grade treadmills?

When you’re using a treadmill in a gym, they have a more powerful motor to accommodate faster running speeds. For example, these speeds are up to 12 miles per hour. That’s the required speed for a long-distance, professional runner. Commercial-grade treadmills must have a deck featuring solid construction and will accommodate individuals who are up to 400 pounds.

An in-home treadmill features foldability, which you can’t find in a commercial-grade machine. Some in-home treadmills are used for walking, while others will support speeds ranging between 10-12 miles per hour. Their consoles also don’t have as many features as a commercial-grade model. However, even when the console doesn’t have many features, these treadmills don’t lack training settings.

Is there a difference between a “walking” and “running” treadmill?

Some who have entry-level fitness experience don’t realize that there are treadmills specifically for jogging or running and others for walking. As a result, it isn’t uncommon for consumers to select the wrong treadmill. The main reason is that if you purchase a treadmill for walking, it will fall apart quickly if you use it for jogging or running.

The best way to tell the difference visually is to look at the running deck. For example, if you want a treadmill for running, it will feature a narrower running surface. The lengths of a runner’s treadmill are also between 45-52″. Treadmills for walking have a 1-ply belt, and the deck doesn’t feature cushioning. Walking treadmills also only supports speeds up to 6 miles per hour.

Why are some treadmills more expensive than others?

When you’re shopping around for the best home treadmills, one of the first things you’ll notice is their price range. The most feature-rich treadmills will have a higher price point. For example, if the display panel on the console features a touch screen, then the price for that model will have a higher price tag.

A wide variety of factors often play into the pricing of treadmills. Some examples of these factors include stronger motors, pre-programmed apps, and incline capabilities. If you don’t have an interest in a lot of technology, then you’ll find treadmills with a significantly lower price point.

Will I receive a good workout running on a treadmill compared to exercising outside?

Here’s another example of where technology plays a significant role in your running experience and overall workout. If you use an app like iFit, you become immersed in the coach’s training program and forget that you’re not outside. The only difference is, when you’re using the app, you don’t have to worry about uneven terrain.

However, if you’re not using a fitness app, there are definite benefits to using a treadmill indoors. For one, when you’re running outside, you don’t have metrics displaying right in front of you. For another, if you get tired, you don’t have to worry about running back to your starting point.

There are times, too, when entry-level runners don’t know where to start with their workout routines. Unless you’re using a manual treadmill, you’ll find that the majority of electronic treadmills feature built-in workout programs. That helps those who need specific direction and want to stay on top of their cumulative goals.

Conclusion

Because there’s such a wide selection of the best home treadmills, there’s something appropriate for every fitness level. It doesn’t matter if you’re training for a 5K or want to get back into shape, you’ll find a treadmill that will suit your needs best.

Before deciding, think about if you want to use the treadmill for walking or running. Then, think about how many features you want to use during your workouts. When you consider these things, then it helps you narrow down your choices and experience the best low-impact exercise routine.
