DreamCloud is making a splash by using some very luxe materials but refusing to mark those materials up artificially. Zenhaven wants to be the cleanest, kindest mattress in existence. Both have excellent reasons to get your business, but let’s look a little deeper to decide.

DreamCloud and Zenhaven Comparison
While these two companies both strive to be your new luxury mattress provider, they do have some significant differences.
How Are DreamCloud and Zenhaven Similar?
Let’s look at what makes them alike before we get to the real dirt.
Both DreamCloud and Zenhaven’s primary mission is bringing luxury mattresses to the masses. Although the specifics of their mattress construction are different, the fundamental purpose is the same.
They accomplish this through layers of luxury, adaptive materials that both contour and support. Where traditional mattresses were made of a single layer covered in basic comfort materials, these new mattresses have multiple adaptive layers using materials like Talalay latex or breathable cashmere.
Conventional mattresses forced your body to conform instead of the other way around, contributing to pain in the morning and restless sleep trying to find a comfortable position. These conform to your body with contouring layers and support layers. The contour layers gently fill in your curves and decompress the spine while support layers keep everything aligned.
Both mattresses do an excellent job of reinforcing the structural integrity of the mattress so that every inch is usable. When you sleep near the edges, there isn’t much compression, so you’ll never feel like you’re going to topple off the side. When you sit, it’s the same thing (although the DreamCloud fares a little better in this case).
Both mattresses do an excellent job of isolating motion. On conventional mattresses, every time one partner moved, the other was nudged awake. Night time was a constant battle of trying to fall asleep in spite of your partner’s movements.
These use different layers of materials to make sure that motion is kept to its original location. That way, even if your partner never stays still during the night, you won’t necessarily feel it enough to wake up.
Another benefit of reducing motion transfer is if one partner is significantly heavier than the other. The extra weight creates a dip in the mattress that causes the other partner to roll towards it, disturbing everyone’s sleep. This way, everyone gets a flat surface to sleep and remain comfortable.
Both companies offer white glove delivery service. You’ll have your mattress delivered during a particular window of time, and the delivery person will help you get everything set up. They’ll both haul off your old mattress, so the transition to your new bed is seamless.
Both companies have financing options for customers who aren’t able, or don’t want, to purchase the mattress outright. Financing is available directly through the purchase window. Most customers receive a decision within minutes and can check out as usual.
Manufacturing and Customer Service
Neither of these companies has been in business for very long, relatively speaking, but both are dedicated to keeping business within the US. Manufacturing happens exclusively from factories in the US, so you won’t be waiting on a mattress that ships from overseas.
It also appears that both customer service locations are also in the United States. They’re rated well for customer satisfaction and have reputations for helpful, quick customer service. You’ll be supporting American companies all the way.
How Are DreamCloud and Zenhaven Different?
You’ve been waiting for the dirt, and here it is.
These companies use two very different mattress concepts to achieve their targeted contouring and support.
DreamCloud’s eight-layer mattress is a complicated construction, but each part serves a purpose. The top layer is a cashmere blend material that provides softness but excellent breathability. The next two layers are contouring memory foam, one gel touch and the other is quilted memory foam for ultimate contouring and softness.
The next two layers are denser memory foam that transitions your body to the support layers. They contour but also begin to push back against the body so that your spine stays aligned.
The next layer is a coil layer of individually pocketed micro-coils. They provide pushback and responsiveness, so the mattress feels less like a “dead” foam hug. The final layer is another layer of foam that helps reduce motion transfer and give the mattress structural support.
It’s about 14.5 inches thick and rates at about a six and a half on a ten point firmness scale.
The Zenhaven is an all latex foam construction, so it’s going to have more of a traditional memory foam feel. It uses three layers of contouring and supporting foam.
Latex is more responsive overall, so it won’t feel quite like memory foam. The first layer is a five-zone targeted layer that supports your shoulders, hips, spine, legs, and body with different levels of support. You end up finding a comfortable position more quickly.
The next is wool which is naturally flame retardant and very breathable, so it keeps air flow to a maximum within the core of the mattress where heat is likely to store.
The base layers are solid Talalay latex, which is a denser foam but more durable than other types of latex. It isn’t petroleum based like other latex blends. You can flip the mattress to a side that has this layer closer to the top for a slightly firmer feel or use the side with the order listed above for a little more softness.
It’s covered with soft cotton, which is easy to clean and stretches with the contouring layers. The firm side registers at about a five while the firm half registers at about a seven and a half on a ten point firmness scale.
There’s a pretty sharp divide between the price of the DreamCloud and the price of the Zenhaven. Natural latex is not cheap.
DreamCloud starts at about $600 for a twin and goes up to about $1500 for a California King. The Zenhaven starts at a little over twice that at about $1300 for a twin and just under twice at $2500 for a California King.
While we believe that spending money on your health is a worthy investment, it isn’t always necessary.
It’s crucial that you have time to try out a mattress for an extended period before deciding if it’s your perfect mattress. It takes time for your body to adjust to a new bed and to work out any lingering pain from previous pressure points.
The Zenhaven mattress has a sleep trial of 120 nights. You get four whole months to sleep in your new bed before deciding if it’s the right one for you and if it serves your needs. This is also time to try out both firmness options if one isn’t working.
The DreamCloud has an astounding 365-day sleep trial, so you get a full year to decide if your mattress is delivering on all its promises.
DreamCloud offers an initial ten-year warranty against mattress defects. They’ll replace your defective mattress at no cost to you, including delivery fees and mattress returns. After ten years, they’ll repair and recover your mattress or replace it entirely if necessary. If it’s considered a defect, this happens at no cost to you still.
Zenhaven has a 20-year warranty because Latex is such a durable material. It will replace your mattress due to defects at no cost to you.
Both of these companies require that mattresses be appropriately supported and not used outside of natural circumstances (no smoking in the bed and don’t take it outside).
Zenhaven offers two firmness options within a single, flippable mattress. It might be hard to flip on your own, which is why you choose your preference when checking out so the delivery person can assist you with setting things up.
DreamCloud offers one mattress. It’s in the medium firm range, a range that satisfies the vast majority of sleepers, but we’d still like to see the company explore at least one other option, so we have some choice.
Zenhaven has no accessories available at this time. However, you can purchase a traditional, slatted, platform style foundation or an adjustable base from DreamCloud.

We’re confident in recommending DreamCloud as the best choice based on our analysis of key factors that an average, discerning mattress shopper would care most about.
We love the idea of the Zenhaven, and we usually go for choice in firmness levels, but we don’t know that there’s enough of a difference in firmness levels to make up for the considerable difference in price. Again, we’d never discourage you from spending money on your health, but aside from a few small instances, we think you’ll be just as happy with a DreamCloud without the bigger hit to your wallet.
DreamCloud’s firmness level should satisfy the majority of customers, so there’s no need to spend twice as much on the Zenhaven. Read on for a few reasons why you might invest in the Zenhaven over the DreamCloud, but for most of you, DreamCloud should be your next mattress.

For sleepers with specific needs…
Side Sleepers: Choose DreamCloud
Here’s why. The layers of the DreamCloud do an excellent job of contouring to the curves of side sleepers without having to be softer. If you’re just set on having a soft mattress, Zenhaven is your choice, but we think you’ll be thrilled with DreamCloud’s construction.
Stomach Sleepers: Choose DreamCloud
Here’s why. There isn’t too much difference between Zenhaven’s firm side and DreamCloud’s firmness, so go with your wallet here. DreamCloud is going to give you all the support you need plus great edges.
Back Pain: Choose DreamCloud
Here’s why. Again, there isn’t much difference between the Zenhaven firm and DreamCloud. DreamCloud offers you plenty of support and decompression for your spine without the double cost.
Heavy People: Choose neither
Here’s why. We stand by finding mattresses that purposefully consider heavier people when constructing a bed, and neither of these does. Check out Ghostbeds or Winkbeds Plus for a much better, more supportive option.
Couples: Choose DreamCloud
Here’s why. Here the choice is clearer. DreamCloud’s micro-coils offer a little more bounce, which for some couples is vital. The motion isolation is excellent once everyone is ready to go to sleep, but the coils keep things lively before that.
Zenhaven is a lovely mattress, and if you’re particularly sensitive to materials, or your primary selling point is eco-friendly materials, it might edge out DreamCloud. For the rest of us, there’s just no reason to spend the extra coin.
DreamCloud should be able to check off all your boxes and arrive right at your door without killing your budget for the next year, especially since there are financing options. Luxury mattresses are well worth the expense to a certain point, and Zenhaven passes that point for us.
