The TEMPUR-Flex has the best of both worlds in mattress technology. The proprietary TEMPUR materials that give these beds their distinct feel, along with the innersprings, which add additional support and some bounce, so you don’t feel wholly sunk into the bed.

The TEMPUR-Flex Supreme is a medium-firm hybrid mattress. It is fast-adapting and pressure relieving with a bit of that traditional ‘spring mattress bounce’ that many people know and love. So this mattress doesn’t feel exactly like the regular TEMPUR-Pedic mattresses that have the conventional memory foam feel.

Saatva and TEMPUR-Pedic Comparison

I can tell you right now that there is a lot more that is different about these two brands than there are similarities. But now that we know a little bit more about the two mattresses we are comparing. Let’s look at them side-by-side to determine which one is worth spending your hard-earned cash to purchase.

How are Saatva and TEMPUR-Pedic Similar

How are Saatva and TEMPUR-Pedic Similar

Construction

Tempur-Pedic offers many other beds that are built entirely different for Saatva. However, these to models are quite similar in the fact that they are both hybrid mattresses using individual innersprings wrapped in Memory Foam.

The Saatva Luxury Firm mattress uses 884 individually wrapped comfort coils underneath there organic cotton and thistle cover. They add an extra memory layer to provide lumbar support enhancement. Saatva uses a coil-on-coil system. Their individually wrapped coils have a sheet of memory foam between them and a set of more traditional innersprings. This is the one thing that sets these two beds apart with regards to the way they are built.

Saatva starts your sleep experience with their quilted top. It has foam quilted in for an extra luxurious feel. Then you move down to the cooling gel infused foam that helps relieve pressure and makes this bed hybrid. Underneath you’ll find both sets of coils and it is all wrapped in their Dual Perimeter Edge Support System. Saatva’s edge system is one of the best on the market, and it helps to make this bed quite durable.

The TEMPUR-Flex Supreme mattresses have that slow to react, body molding, proprietary memory foam for which they are famous. This bed still has that TEMPUR feel, but it’s hybrid nature give it a little more bounce.

The TEMPUR-Flex mattress uses a 2-inch TEMPUR-ES memory foam layer that is extra soft and slow to respond. The next layer is what is called the response layer. This is because it is built out of a faster to respond, TEMPUR-Response foam that is slightly springy and assists in distributing your weight over the individually wrapped precision coils below.

Below it all is the Base Layer. There is 2.5 inches more of TEMPUR material that makes up the base of the bed. It is designed in a way to help transfer heat out of the mattress.

Firmness

Tempur-Pedic and Saatva offer various different firmness options. But these two beds are very similar to one another. TEMPUR-Pedic reviews generally rate the TEMPUR-Flex Supreme around 6 to 7.5 out of 10, While Saatva Reviews comes in at around 7 out of 10.

How Saatva & TEMPUR-Pedic are Different

Price

Saatva is a bargain at $999.00 for a queen. Tempur-Pedic’s TEMPUR-Flex Supreme is one of their more reasonably priced lines, and it still comes in at $2799.00. Plus, it will cost you an extra $250 if you want the foundation.

Warranty

Saatva outdoes TEMPUR-Pedic with their 15-year warranty. They must have more faith in their product to offer an additional five years.

Sleep Trial

Again, Saatva makes Tempur-Pedic look bad here. Saatva offers a 120-day trial compared to Tempur-Pedic’s 90-day trial. But the kicker is, even if you hate the Tempur-Pedic mattress, you are stuck with them. So really, Tempur-Pedic does not offer a sleep trial at all. They only provide you with a different bed and charge you $175 to return the one you didn’t like.

Saatva will give you your money back if you are not satisfied. They will deduct $99.00 from your refund to cover the cost of pick up … That is way better than getting charged $175 to get rid of a mattress you don’t like, only to get it replaced with another you might not enjoy.

Motion Transfer

The TEMPUR-Flex Supreme really is the best in the business at stopping energy from travelling across the bed. Saatva does a good job. But it is a dual spring system so there is no way it can compete with Tempur-Pedic here. In this Tempur bed, you could literally flop into it without disturbing a person on the other side of the bed.

Edge Support

The TEMPUR-Flex does an excellent job of making you feel secure at the edge. That said, it isn’t nearly as good as Saatva’s duel perimeter edge support. Even massive men will feel comfortable sleeping right on the edge of the Saatva bed.

Mattress Selection

Saatva offers three different comfort levels and a couple of aesthetic trims, but Tempur-Pedic has various lines, each with individual firmness levels.

How They Feel

TEMPUR-Pedic has that classic sunk in, memory foam feel. But this model has a little more bounce than their all-foam beds. The coils and responsive foam layer help add some spring which assists you to move about on the surface of the bed so that you don’t feel stuck. That said, this bed still hugs your body a lot.

The Tempur-Flex does a great job of filling the contours of your body, especially for side sleepers. You feel that your weight is supported without any pinching on pressure-points.

Saatva feels like it belongs in a high-end, 5-star hotel. The foam padded euro-style quilted top adds a plushness that isn’t too soft. The convoluted gel foam relieves pressure and hugs your body the perfect amount.

The 884 individually wrapped coils adapt and conform to all of the points and curves of your body, giving you fantastic support while maintaining the ultimate level of comfort. The combination of the two layers of springs, latex-like gel foam, and a plush top give Saatva feel that has just the right amount of bounce and body contouring hug.

Pressure Relief

You would think that by spending $2800.00, you would get unrivaled comfort and pressure relief. Well … we thought wrong. Lab tests used pressure maps on the surface of the bed, and Saatva actually outperformed the Tempur-Flex in all positions: side, stomach, and back.

The Covers

Saatva uses 100% organic cotton cover with thistle pulp as a natural alternative to chemical fire retardants. The cover is soft, and there are extra bits of foam quilted in. They also went the extra mile to stitch tighter in the lumbar region for added lower back support.

TEMPUR-Pedic uses a stretch knit cover that is super easy to remove. The material is a thick blend of spandex and polyester.

For sleepers with specific needs

Side Sleepers: Choose Saatva

The pressure maps show that Saatva has very little pressure around the hips, side, and shoulders. This bed is a side sleeper’s dream come true.

Stomach Sleepers: Choose Saatva

Stomach sleepers will sleep cool and breath easy with almost no pressure at all on their chest and knees. Some mattresses tend to push your hips up while resting face down, causing unnecessary pressure in the upper chest region. Not Saatva. Your weight is nearly perfectly distributed along the length of your body.

People With Back Pain: Choose Saatva

Again, there are almost no pressure spots shown for back sleepers. But more importantly, the contouring nature of this bed will help keep your back aligned no matter how you sleep. Over time, this should help to alleviate chronic back pain.

Heavy People: Choose Saatva

The edge support is unbeatable, and the dual-coil system keeps deep compression comfortable while still evenly supporting your weight. This is also one of the most durable beds we have come across.

Couples: Choose Saatva

Side support is a significant concern for many couples. Often, one person ends up pushed against the edge of the mattress. The dual perimeter edge support will not fold underneath your weight while you sleep on the side of the bed. Saatva is perfect for couples.

Conclusion

There are so many reasons to choose Saatva. In my opinion, Tempur-Pedic doesn’t even come close. Saatva is much less expensive. The materials used are safer with no off-gassing. They are a more environmentally focused company.

Their warranty is better and being online only; you won’t have to worry about dealing with a retailer who doesn’t want to honor a manufacturer warranty. And when it comes to not being entirely satisfied with their product, Saatva is customer-centric. They actually do the right thing, which is give you your money back.
