All Star Reviews
This is an excellent site devoted to the review of all sorts of educational materials. The reviews are from homeschooling people, so they seem plausible. Ratings are given in stars.


Anger Management
As advertised, has excellent "tools" for dealing with our own anger.


Beakman's World
This is the site for the famous Beakman and Jax science explorers! They are good for about grades three and up, with easy to do experiments, and clear explanations about scientific principles. Kids can do many of these experiments with stuff around the house.


Cells Alive!
A scientific site, appropriate for the science minded aged about ten and up. A must-see for the apoptosis alone!


Classroom Flyer
Many good tips and links for educators, as well as an e-zine that sends the Flyer directly to your e-mail. Thicker stuff, not light and fluffy sites, more for the science of teaching.


Eclectic Home School
This is a fantastic homeschool site, full of valuable information. It is where I get some of my favorite ideas, as well as my kids' chore charts (at eho.org/pdf/chores.pdf). Truly devoted to homeschool as being a part of the home and family.


Eyewitness History
This is a fantastic site, containing many things of historical value, including photographs and speeches of famous incidents. This is especially good for the Junior High and under set.


Family Education.Com
This is a website that is devoted entirely to your family and the improvement of your family's education. It is in a short, magazine-style format, and the information is easy to understand.


Family Unschoolers Network
An excellent site, filled with articles related to Unschooling. Food for a weary spirit, or fodder for thought related to homeschool. Also has other links.


Get Your Angries Out
This is THE site for anger issues. Includes a children's section, and also an adult section. Includes a section for adults dealing with children. Comprehensive, easy-to-understand information. Fantastic!


Growing Without Schooling
One of the original proponents of home education. This site has a lot of supportive homeschool information.


History of the Cherokee
This is a beautifully done page of the history of the Cherokee in America. It include geneological studies as well as interesting article and links related to Cherokees.


Homeschool
A hodge-podge of Christian-based and less religious information. Contains many links to educational websites, as well as a support forum. Heavier on Science and Math than many other sites.


How Stuff Works
This is an excellent site, explaining how things work from public utilities to the "gentle art of verbal self-defense", which is a unit we are working on for Anger studies. Great subjects for all sciences!


How to Learn Anything...Fast
This site is a sales site, but does provide two e-mail newsletters for free. Also, they provide tons of free information. I have not personally ordered anything from them, so I do not know anything about their customer service.


Kid's Health
This website deals with kid's health issues, including Anger. It brushes over the topic, but at least addresses it. Site includes tons of Health information on a variety of topics, and is geared for both kids and adults.


Let's Find Out
This is an excellent site for searching for historical information, as well as other subjects for students. It is designed for the older child, junior high age and a bit older.


Love at home
This site is dedicated to "families with more than 2.2 children", written by a family with eight children. They have experienced life in and out of home- and public schools, and have quite a lot to say on the subject. Excellent links, also. Real-life parenting issues are discussed. Lots of fun, also some political links for when you feel a need to have your rabble roused.


Neuroscience For Kids
This is an excellent site for anatomy studies! It is brightly illustrated, yet completely factual. It would probably be best for ages 10 and up, but I would suggest parental involvement for the younger set. Very useful, contains not only illustrations, but PRONOUNCIATIONS for all those Latin words.


Oprah
This is the website for the Oprah Winfrey show, which often features Dr. Phil McGraw. Two of the shows I would like to highlight are the 9/21/99 and the 6/16/98 shows, as these deal particularly with anger.


Research Papers
Gives excellent advice for the person who already knows something about writing research reports, as well as the person (I'd think starting at age twelve or so) just learning how.


Scientific American
This is the site for scientific articles from the Scientific American magazine. Has excellent articles for the Middle school agers on up. Generous with article access.


The Case Dot Com For Kids
This is a good site for writing and critical thinking skills. Kids can read and solve a mystery online, and submit their own mystery stories. Includes a Nancy Drew element. Excellent for that junior "G" man or woman in your home!


The History Channel
From the cable channel, contains a huge database of historical topics and information.Best for Middle school and up grades, due to adult topics and level of information.


TourEgypt
An excellent site for studying REALLY ancient Egypt! Begins with the Lower Paleolithic period, goes up to modern times. Good for those children who have studied the King Tutankhamen period one too many times. At www.touregypt.net/kings.htm, you will find a list of all of Egypt's Dynastic Kings in order of their reign, sorted by Dynasty. Fantastic! Questions to the site are answered PROMPTLY.


Unschooling.Com
This is an excellent site, filled with interesting articles. This site is sponsored by Home Education Magazine, a leader in the industry.


America Taking Action
This is a page dedicated to homework assistance with a myriad of subjects, including history.


Center For Development
Primarily for those educating special ed type kids. Information is more technical than most sites, but is not totally intelligible to your average parent. Many explanations, ideas.


Funderstanding
This site contains many theories about learning, and also summarizes what they mean in plain English. Here you can learn about Vygotsky's theory of social cognition, and Bandura's observational learning theories among other things. You can also make a virtual roller coaster, if you get bored. Lots of stuff for the homeschool teacher.

This is a huge site, containing everything from free GOOD worksheets, to links to various homeschool related magazines. The worksheets are mainly for the Preschool to about sixth grade child.


Math Facts Now
This is a math product for sale. It is software designed to make children better at math by drilling them on their basic math facts-sort of like electronic flash cards.


Merriam-Webster's Word Central
An excellent and fun site including a dictionary function that lets kids type in words and defines them rapidly. Also includes other "fun with words" games. Good for grades 1 or 2 and up.


National Geographic
The old standard on-line. Not very generous with article accessibility, but good for perusing current issue. Has very useful videos.


Owl and Mouse Software
This website contains some Free and some Purchaseable software, geared for the little ones to the 13 or so group. Favorite sections include the Free downloadable map games, and the section on the Presidents of the United States.


The Arithmattack
An on-line math game, drills for basic skills.


The Ennis Cosby Foundation
This site is a memorial to Bill Cosby's son who was killed by a mugger in California. It has many links to sites that deal with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. Also explains dyslexia in human terms.

A bit of political rabble-rousing related to public education.


Thought Field
Thought Field therapy was discovered in 1981 by Dr. Roger Callahan. He believes the body has energy fields and he developed a therapy that involves touching pressure points on the body in a pattern called an algorithm. This can be used for anger management, and he claims to have miraculous results. I have no personal experience with this form of therapy, however it can't be worse that shock treatments or a lifetime of pills.


Vocabulary University
This is a fun site, promoting vocabulary via puzzles. There are three different levels of tests, and at the end of one set your child can get a certificate.


What Do They Do?
This is an excellent starting point for young kids to begin choosing a career. Lists several professions and tells what they do. Can be a good topic for discussing how to begin setting educational goals for future employment.
